CCS/TPS65987D: Mac2016 pro can't detect hub if hot-plug

Part Number: TPS65987D

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

HI,TI team:

we have an issue on our docking( No DP ALT mode funciton, only USB HUB and PD).

it can't detect Hub on macbook2016 pro if hot-plug,

it  can detect normal if enable the DP ALT on the application configuration tool.

from the FAE suggest, didn't enable the DP ALT from our docking function.

until now, this issue pending still, can't close.

what's unknow issue for our docking compatibility  if enable ALT Mode?

kindly hope you check it for us.

thanks!

  • Hello,

So you do not want to provide DP Alt mode in the dock? If that is the case, have you tried configuring register 0x47 to choose "hub" for product type and also disabling "modal operation supported" since you do not support any alternate modes?

    Thank you,

    Hari

  • Hi,Hari:

    thank your reply.

you said this item on the tool, i have set already.

but the issue still if hot-plug (rate:1/3)

do you have other comment for the issue if disable the DP ALT Mode?

do you think it has any compatibility if must enable the DP ALT for this issue?

  • Hi,Hari:

do you have any updated for my question?

  • Hi,

Yes, this might be an issue with the hub itself. It may function with other laptop because their protocols for connecting and identifying devices might not be as complicated as the way your Macbook may be implemented. I'm not entirely sure if enabling the DP Alt Mode may cause any issues, it will depend on your application, but I will double check with my team.

Also, does your hub IC have billboard functionality built in for Macbook support? This functionality may help the Macbook to better identify your hub.

    Thank you,

    Hari
