Trouble using CCS 3.3 platinum with OMAP_L138

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAPL138, AM1808

I have followed the instructions

http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/How_to_connect_to_the_OMAP-L138/C6748_EVM_board_using_CCS%3F

to install CCS 3.3 platinum with required release to be able to connect to DSP+ARM using XDS510 external emulator.

However when I try to open CCS after setup I get the error that I need sdgoicepickusb_c.dvr. I searched my CCS directory and it is nowhere to be found.

Thank you

Oleg

  • Oleg,

This error indicates the Spectrum Digital emulator device drivers are not installed properly, and CCS does not find the necessary files.

Can confirm if you installed them as stated in step 1) of the XDS510/560 emulator procedures?

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael

  • Yes

I have ran setupCCSPlatinum_v30330.exe and installed everything there

  • I have reinstalled Spectrum digital drivers just in case and that error went away however no I have the following error

    I/O Port = 510

    Board Name: OMAPL138_XDS510USB
    Cpu Name: TMS320C674XP_0

    Abort:  Close Code Composer Studio.
Retry:  Try to initialize the emulator again.
Ignore:  Ignore the initialization error and start
      potentially without target debugging access.
    Diagnostic: Run diagnostic utility.

I have checked with diagnostic utility and it performs scan tests no problem.  I have also tried a different board and it gave me the same issue

    Thanks

  • Hi,

If you are using the OMAPL138 development board, did you check the S7 switch and see if it is set to emulation boot? The reason is that I get the exact same behaviour if I leave the S7 switch as default and try to connect to the board. The SDConfig utility gives me no error (since the low-level connection is stable) but CCS fails (since it tries to get control of the processor but the boot configuration does not allow it).

I know it seems silly, but another issue that was somewhat common and historically caused trouble was using a wrong SOM: it happened before when the board had a C6748 or even an AM1808 SOM but the configuration was set to OMAPL138.

Apart from this I really don't know what may be wrong. Are you running CCS with admin privileges, right?

     Hope this helps,

    Rafael

  • Hello Rafael,

I have checked and S7 switches are set to S7:8 to ON and S7:5 to ON for EMU Debug.

I have OMAPL138 on the EVM.

I followed the installation instructions and then had to re-install Spectrum Digital drivers one more time

    Thanks
