Software installation issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDXIDDK379D, BOOSTXL-DRV8301

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello,

I have Motor Control & PFC Developer Kit (TMDS1MTRPFCKIT). In that I pursuing problem for installing baseline software and hardware collateral hence after typing https://www.ti.com/f28xkits on an Internet browser

then I fail to find c2000 collateral page and "Baseline Software" for this kit. so how can I Install the baseline software and hardware collateral & Install motor control and PFC developer kit board-specific collateral and hardware. If you have any other link rather than https://www.ti.com/f28xkits  I have discussed with the TI customer support they told me that 'here in the support center we limited to access information to obsolete devices'. Also I have one another query so basically I'm using CCS v3.3 but I want to update it so suggest me after updating CCS v3.3 to higher version then can I run my TMDS1MTRPFCKIT project it.
  • Hi,

First, please be aware that this is an old kit.  Support will be extremely limited at this point. You may also have to work through some, hopefully small, issues because of this.

Newer kits, such as the TMDXIDDK379D or BOOSTXL-DRV8301, are likely better alternatives for getting started & developing with the C2000 MCU family.

However, the TMDS1MTRPFCKIT utilized the same baseboard & software as the TMDS2MTRPFCKIT.  The only difference was that '1MTR' version only included a single motor in its box.

The following e2e post may be helpful as it discusses your getting started options:

    Thank you,

  • ok so for TMDS1MTRPFCKIT and TMDS2MTRPFCKIT kit we can use same baseboard and software.

As you provided http://www.ti.com/lit/zip/sprc675 + http://www.ti.com/lit/zip/sprc922 links after clicking on it Baseline Software Setup_v1.11.exe and

MotorCtrl+PFC Software Setup_v1.2.exe files are seen so my question is for versions that you are provided i.e.v1.11 for baseline software and v1.2 for MotorCtrl+PFC are very old versions so can they affects on my CCS v3.3 or there is no any interconnection between that versions you provided with my CCS v3.3.

  • Hi,

The software packages (sprc675 & sprc922) were built on a specific Code Composer Studio version, CCS3.3.  So they should run directly, and may be your easiest path to get something working quickly.

However, the software examples should port easily to CCS4.x or the most recent CCS version.  If you want to do this, there's an option to import/migrate a legacy CCS3.3 project to a newer CCS inside the CCS application itself.  This works pretty well, but you may run into some minor #include type challenges as you transition.  Newer CCS versions are free for download.

I would probably try to get your motor spinning using the kit & CCS3.3 first, but not investing too much time in learning CCS there.  Instead, I would recommend moving to a newer version of CCS after that initial spinning occurred.

    Hopefully that helps!

    Thank you,
    Brett
