CCS/MSP430FR6047: Calibration Issue

Part Number: MSP430FR6047
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EVM430-FR6047

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

hello sir

I am using (  MSP430FR6047 Ultrasonic Sensing Evaluation Module EVM430-FR6047 ) Development board

I am trying to calibration as per your procedure given in manual  after aIMG.zipdjusting all settings parameters but expected result not getting

kindly  support us or provide us exact procedure or demo video

I have attached my settings , calibration ranges , results please check and let me know solution for it

line size 25NB

Actual Flow is =4.5 PLH

indicated Flow = 3.29 LPH

  • Hi Dhiraj

Due to the Christmas our expert on this part is off office. He will come back next week and response to you.

    Best regards

  • Hi,

I have assigned this thread to our expert, he is in America. Please wait for some time.

  • Hi,

I have looked into your settings. First, I would change the signal sampling frequency down to 3600kHz or 4000kHz.

Then I would like to ask how do you get your calibration ranges? Because the slope of different ranges change significantly in your configuration. And I don't think the number of the flow points is enough for your test setup. For example, for range 1, the VFR from 0 to 14.15 and you only have two flow points in that range for calibration. You may need more test points for it.

You can test all flow points you want to calibrate first. Then separate them into different groups by the uncalibrate error. Refer to this image.

  • Hello Cash

I change the signal sampling frequency down to 3600kHz

but volume flow rate getting 10 times low at the time taking calibrations points (without using "Adv. calibration table") where is wrong exactly all settings checked

that why slop not getting near 1 , is it necessary slop near by 1 for accuracy.

pipe size 25mm for this can you please check settings is right ?

  • Hi,

First, 10 times is not an issue. You can 10 times the meter constant to fix it. However, you will reach the maximum range of that parameter. You can try to fix the VFR result in the software before it outputs to the GUI. But the 10 times gap is not an issue.

The slop does not need to be around 1. But for each range, the slop should be close. Otherwise, it means the ranges are not set properly. Refer to my first reply to set your ranges.

I need you to send me some ADC captures with this configuration under zero flow and high flow. So I can see if these configuration are work fine.

    Best regards,

    Cash Hao

  • Hello cash

I have attached adc capture at zero flow and high flow for sampling (3500 & 4000). If I increase meter constant 10 times then USS does not accept it because it is grater than meter_constant_max. There is limit (22742000) for meter constant value , & in code(  float meter_constant ) type is there. Please let us know which configuration will be suitable for our setup. Pipe Line size 15mm , distance between mirror 70mm.

  • Hi,

You need to decrease the GUI based gain control, until you can get a 1000 codes of the maximum signal in ADC capture.

And you need to increase the capture duration. It is important to capture the whole signal in the ADC captures. Try set to 50us first.

It seams that your transducer is very sensitive, you might need to consider to lower the number of excitation pulses. But decrease the number of pulses might cause the dTOF STD goes higher.

About the 10 times issue, you can just leave it there, or 10 times the VFR result before it updates to the GUI in software.

So after you set these configuration properly, you need to run over all the flow points and get the errors without calibration. Than you group them into several ranges.

  • Hello

    Cash Hao

Thanks for replying, I will do this configurations, changes. and let you know.
