Tool/software: Code Composer Studio
On high resolution displays, the font CCS uses for its own app as well as icon sizes is awfully small - I can read it, but it is not fun staring at it all day. Is there a way to change it? I see the text editor text itself can be changed just fine but the CCS app font/icon sizes cannot it seems.
I am on a 16" MacBook Pro, as well as iMac 27". Both are not comfortable to use CCS on for hours on end. Yes I can change the screen resolution to something stupidly course but then all other apps I am using at the same time are unusable.
Are you using the latest version of CCS? We've heard of these types of issues with older CCSv6 that were resolved when we updated to a newer version of Eclipse (one reference thread here), but haven't heard anything recent with latest CCSv9.
Is it the Mac's display scaling setting (System Preferences->Display->Scaled) that you already tried adjusting?
I am using CCS 9.3
On the (System Preferences->Display->Scaled) adjustment; as mentioned in my original msg, yes I can adjust that but then I am losing resolution across the board for all other apps. CCS should be sensible to allow for automatic or manual adjustment of the fonts and icon sizes to fit usage.
What setting are you using for scaling?
Normally I have mine set for "Default for display". If I switch it to scaled it uses the second from the right.
When using this the application font is actually a touch bigger for me than the editor font. It looks the same as my other applications.
This is on a similar model macbook pro.
Here is a shot of the system preferences over top of CCS for comparison:
I use the setting to the far right "more space". This works out fine for all apps I normally work with. Some have dynamic, some have static scaling of their fonts/icons. My monitor/screens are normally quite busy and I like to see as much as I can for each app.
I noticed that some popups in CCS (such as those that show method docs, or search function popups) use even smaller font than the menus etc. I can read it but it is really not pleasant. It would behove many to have some scaling option in CCS - can that be picked up in the dev-queue somewhere? Thanks for caring.
Why not change the scaling setting? That is really the point of it, especially on a retina display like on your macbook pro. On the retina displays you can't change the native resolution to make things bigger, plus you would not want to as it defeats the purpose of having such a nice display. That is why Apple has those scaling settings. They are there to enable making fonts and icons bigger without sacrificing sharpness.
The CCS fonts used on the tabs and in project explorer are a bit smaller than the font used in Finder, especially the tab headings. However they do scale in the same way.
If you want to use the small font setting in the macos scaling settings but want the "tab" heading font to be bigger you can change that here:
You can make it look something like this:

I think I explained that several times above already, no?
Thanks for the Tab Font customization, that helps. I also found there is a Dialog Font setting. Starts to look a bit more workable now.
If there are other items that are too small let me know and I can likely find them in the preferences settings. Navigating those settings can be challenging.
In general I find the that CCS/Eclipse fonts are a touch smaller than other apps like Finder, Safari, Chrome, Outlook, Excel... However those apps all follow the same scaling. i.e. when I scale the fonts to make them bigger they all get bigger such that CCS is still just a touch smaller. On my external monitor I have to use scaling even more or my eyes are done after a few seconds.
