CCS/TMS320F28335: Error initializing emulator

Part Number: TMS320F28335

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I was working on Closed loop V/f control giving feedback to the DSP. Suddenly VOLTAGE surge came and motherboard(CPU) was damaged. Now whenever  I connect the DSP, it is showing

" ERROR INITIALIZING EMULATOR" . What might be the reason?

  • Hi,

One of the hardest things is to predict how a failure develops after a surge event but, since you already diagnosed part of the problem and linked it to the motherboard, I wouldn't be surprised if another ramification of the event is linked to the Debug Probe (a.k.a. emulator) itself. In other words, the surge could have damaged the Emulator as well.

That said, the page Debugging JTAG contains several tips to try and diagnose such issues - pay special attention to the sections Strategy for debugging JTAG connectivity problems and Hardware checklist.

    https://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/esd/documents/ccs_debugging_jtag_connectivity_issues.html

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael
