Compiler: C/C++

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSLCDK138, OMAPL138

Tool/software: TI C/C++ Compiler

I am n the process of ordering the TMDSLCDK138 EVM board, but read in the literature that the board doeasnt come with the XDS JTAG board for debugging. Is this a must to have a real time DSP code on the target? . Also, I have located the XDS110 JTAG Debug Probe in case I must have it.

I am also wondering which user interface board I need to use (if any), I noticed from older you tube videos , a user interface board is mounted on the board(this dates back to 2011 though). Not sure what choices I have here regarding a user interface board (the board used on that video is zoom opm138?) .

My last question is I run my software on Mac OS . I have installed already  Code Composer Studio and runs fine on it (Mac OS Sierra v10.13.6),

I noticed from reading the literature that to run the various debuggers and software of the real time DSP , the platforms that are supported are windows and linux. So, is the TI RTOS is compatible with MAC OSX? or do I have to install a virtual linux environment in parallel? . Thank you

  • George,

    I can help with a couple of the questions and then I will need to loop in someone from the team that supports OMAPL138.

    The macOS version of Code Composer Studio does not support OMAPL138.  The macOS version just supports our microcontroller devices and not our larger processors.  You will need to run CCS for Linux or WIndows in a virtual environment.  Similar story for the processor SDK RTOS.  It is only provided for Linux and Windows.  http://software-dl.ti.com/processor-sdk-rtos/esd/OMAPL138/latest/index_FDS.html

    For a debug probe you will want to consider an XDS200 or an XDS100v2.  The XDS110 is not compatible with the adaptive clocking of the ARM9 on OMAPL138.  I would go with the XDS200 as the performance of the XDS100v2 would not be very good working with OMAPL138.  http://www.ti.com/tool/TMDSEMU200-U

  • George,

    The LCDK does not require or have a UI board. I believe you are referring to the LogicPD EVM which is EOL https://www.logicpd.com/dev_kits/zoom-omap-l138-evm/

  • Also, here are a couple links to help you get started with the LCDK:
