CCS V3.3 with XDS100v2?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6748, OMAP-L138, AM1808

In FAQ on Composer Studio v3.3 it was mentioned that XDS100v2 doesn’t work with CCS v3.3.  They strongly suggest migrating to v4.

Can you provide me with a script for CCS v3.3 which will tune the environment to support XDS100v2?

As I understand it,  XDS100v2 is supposed to allow 2 way communication during debugging and also allow executable download in to the TI devices, right?

Also, is there a guide for using XDS100v1 on-board USB emulation that is found on some eval boards?

Thank you.

I am not quite sure what you are asking here... What do you mean by "script for CCS v3.3" or "tune the environment to support XDS100v2"? Are you asking if there is a hack available that allows using XDS100v2 on CCSv3.3?

Yes, that is correct. The two-way communications happen between the device and CCS through the physical JTAG path.

Usually the boards that have built-in XDS100 emulators also come with a printed or electronic quick start guide that covers the basics of configuration and connection.

A more general coverage on the XDS100 technology can be found at:

  • Well, Rafael de Souza is de guy with de answers. ;-)

    Paul,

What I'm missing is which board - custom/EVM/DSK/EK - are you trying to connect to? Rafael's answers are dead-on and I had the same question about what you mean by "script". It seems you are hinting at a .ccxml target configuration file used in CCSv4.x. Without more info, it's difficult to pin down an answer. Your definition of "script" and "tune..." will help us both.

    Thanks,

    Eric

  • customer has a TMS320C6748 Zoom kit from LogicPD that has the on board USB emulator built in.  The customer wanted to use the XDSV2 with 3.3 and wanted to know if there was any type of driver (or script as they calling it) to get it to work,

They really want to use the added features fo the V2 emulator with 3.3, but it appears there is no way to do this?

  • Paul,

The onboard emulator of the C6748 kit from LogicPD is a XDS100v1, but still allows its use with this device without any loss of functionality when compared to a XDS100v2.
