CCS/CC3220SF-LAUNCHXL: How do I print the timestamp to a log file

I need to print the current date and time (timestamp to a log file).

I have used

#include <time.h>

and here is my logging function:

}

When I run my program, the log file has this content:

Thu Jan 1 00:01:11 1970
1 dose was delivered

How do I print the current date and time to the log file?

AFAICT, the 3220 has no RTC. You either need an external RTC or write your own.

Are you using RTOS? That does have a real time clock function using the Seconds module.

Thank you. I read the article now.

My program is being run under Code Composer Studio (CCS). I have included time.h. Do I need to customize the time() function? I am not sure what reliable real world clock I have access to on my CC3220-LaunchXL board.

Hi,

Please see SDK example local_time. This example demonstrates how to synchronise RTC inside CC3220 device with NTP server.

Description of example:

This example demonstrates the ability to update the device current local time by global NTP servers. It make use of ClockSync
library which updates current local time by using the SNTP library. The SNTP library sends request over the net to predefined NTP
servers which are built in the library. The update should executed only after period of time was elapsed from the last update.
The default is 1 minutes but it could be change by redefine CLOCKSYNC_INTERVAL and rebuild ClockSync library.
While calling ClockSync to update the local time, it could update NWP time in case CLOCKSYNC_UPDATE_NWP definition set to 1.
