CCS/AWR1642: Getting started with Texas Instruments C programming

Hi guys,

I am an undergrad student and we are going to be using the AWR1642 radar board for our proects. I need to learn the C promming that is used on these boards. I have basic knowledge on the C and matlab programming but when I look at the source code of main.c in C:\timmwave_sdk_02_01_00_04\packages\ti\demo\xwr16xx\mmw\dss\dss_main.c, its a totaly different C code that I know.

If I want learn this type of programming (implementing c code on hardware), where do I start?

Hi Ayise,

That is same basic C plus hardware access code. You can search online there is lot of resources available for Embedded-C language.

Start with the examples.

Do not confuse C with what is required by the OS to complete certain tasks.

Can you give us an example of what you think is not "C"?

Unless the program commits preprocessor abuse - which is highly unlikely* - it is probably unfamiliar library calls that are confusing you.

*It seems that one of the original shells was written with a bunch of #defines to make the syntax look more Pascal like.

Yes, I would like to start with examples especially of the implementation of C on the DSP. Can you recomend a starting point in Code Composer Studio...

Any of code development requires hardware (device) to verify it to be working.

As you have already AWR device, so you can start with mmwave sdk application and TI-Rex labs (which has CCS project).
