CCS: GUI Composer Browser-Extension

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello

GUI Composer needs a browser-extension to connect to the target board (The MSP-TS430RHB in my case).

Due to company restrictions my browser (Chrome or Firefox) deny the installation of this extension.

Is there a work around to use the GUI Composer somehow?

I can imagin, that many companies have this restrictions. That makes the tool useless for many engineers.

Thanks for some advices!

Kind regards

Dominic

  • Dominic,

The TI Cloud Agent browser extension is necessary to run GUI Composer applications on the cloud. Without it, you can still create the GUI apps and export to run on CCS desktop, but it is not the most efficient process.

Perhaps the installation is being denied because of permissions, because the initial installation requires elevated permissions.Could you request your IT dept to do the initial installation or request temporary admin privileges to do the installation?

  • Due to the fact, that it is nearly impossible to get permission to install browser extensions it is not possible to use your GUI application I think.

Whey is there only an online version of it? I think many developers like me are in the same situation. In my case I already decided to work with ST Microcontrollers because they offer there GUI Debug Tool as a stand alone version (And it doesn't matter what microcontroller manufacturer to uses in my case). The program is not the best at all but for some quick and dirty solutions and debugging adc measurements it is perfect.

In a later state of the project it is unlikely that someone changes controller again and the development tools are important as well. So maybe it would be worth for TI to develop a standalone version which is easy to use for debugging and monitoring.

    Thanks anyway for your help.

  • Thank you for your feedback. At the current time, TI has made the decision to provide only an online GUI Composer designer. However, this may be reconsidered at a later time, and we do appreciate your thoughts and feedback in this regard.
