CCS/TMS320F28377D: Spectrum Digital XDS510 emulator support.

Part Number: TMS320F28377D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSEMU110-U

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi all,

We know that CCS v9 or higher version of CCS will not support XDS510 emulators anymore. But my customers have several XDS510 emulators on hand, it is a problem they cannot use XDS510 anymore when they start using CCS v9.

My customers are asking for XDS510 support, I check this problem with Spectrum Digital and get answer that TI has stopped building/providing the XDS510 code. I am a bit confused, my customers need CCSv9 supporting XDS510 badly, how should we do so that our 64-bit IDE continue supporting XDS510 emulators?

Please advise your ideas if any, thanks for your help.

Regards,

Luke

  • Luke,

Well before the release of CCSv9.0 in 2019, the XDS510USB line of Debug Probes wasn't actively supported since 2012 by Spectrum Digital themselves, thus unfortunately there are no plans to bring back support for this. Sorry.

Alternatives are the low cost TMDSEMU110-U, which is fully supported by the F28x family of devices.

    Regards,

  • Rafael,

Yes, this is the information I got from here. But when I check this with Spectrum Digital support team, they tell me that TI has stopped building/providing the XDS510 code and therefore Spectrum Digital are unable to provide drivers for their XDS510 emulators.

So, I am wondering what is happening? My customers have several XDS510 on hand and it is a problem they cannot use the emulators any longer. Is there any method CCSv10 supporting XDS510 emulators please?

    Regards,

    Luke

  • Luke,

Could you please let us know the name of the person at Spectrum Digital you are in contact with.  We can check with the management team there if their position on 510 support has actually changed.

    Regards,

    John

  • John,

His name is Danny Corey, from Spectrum Digital. Please contact him and help us to keep supporting XDS510 emulators on CCSv10, thanks.

  • Luke,

We reached out to Spectrum Digital.  An updated source drop from TI is not gating Spectrum updating to support 64bit.  They have no plans to do this.
