We recently purchased a new development machine with Win7 64 bit. In our efforts to migrate to that machine we have discovered issues with using CCS 3.3 on that operating system with a specific emulator (There are no 64bit drivers for the emulator we use, Wintech TDS560). To get around this I have installed VMWare 7.1 and setup an XP SP3 virtual machine. I was able to get CCS 3.3 SR12 installed correctly in the VM and was able to connect the computer to the target board via the emulator successfully.
The problem is, when I try to program the processor with the "F28xx On-Chip Flash Programmer" plug in the "program" and "verify" stages are extremely slow. On the same machine (win7 x64) I have CCS 3.3 SR12 installed outside of the virtual machine (under win7) and using a different emulator with drivers that support 64 bit (the Blackhawk XDS100v2D) and everything works fine. It takes roughly 30 seconds to a minute to do the entire erase/program/verify cycle using the XDS100 in Win7, but up to TWENTY MINUTES to do the same using the TDS560 under the windows XP VM.
It's not just that it's slow either, but CCS actually stops responding to mouse and keyboard input for about 60 seconds between each update of the program/verify progress bar. I can minimize CCS when it's doing this and use anything else in the OS (virtual machine) normally.
I am not sure this is the right place to ask this, but I imagine if I posted this on the VMWare support forums they would have no idea what I'm talking about. I'm just wondering if anyone here has any idea what might be wrong or if anyone has ever tried this same thing before.
