Feature Update in CCSv4 4.2.1.00004

Hello,

after updating the CCSv4 to vesion 4.2.1.00004
(Help -> Software Updates -> Find and Install... -> Search for updates of the currently installed features)
the Search Results offers me to install the following features:
- IPC 1.21.2.23
- RTSC/XDCtools 3.20.7.86
- SYS/BIOS 6.30.3.46

I downloaded then the bios_setupwin32_6_30_03_46.exe and xdctools_setupwin32_3_20_07_86.exe from TI download pages and installed them maually.
The new BIOS and xdctools were installed successful directly in the default folder:
C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments

When I now run the Software Updates again, CCS4 still offers me the above 3 features.
The folder in which the CCS4 will install (for example the new BIOS) is:
C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments\ccsv4\eclipse

What is the correct folder for installation?

As I already have installed two features, how can I bring the CCS4 not to offer me the installed features again?

As I don't need/use the IPC, is there a way to supress IPC in the Software Updates?

Thanks,
Frank

This location is actually correct. All updates will show this location (it is where the CCS eclipse folder is and updates need to know this location). Note that this is not the actual path where the update will get installed (BIOS will be installed in "C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments" in your environment).

Sorry but CCS will keep bugging you. There is no easy way to "turn off" the notification for a particular update.

  • Ki,

    need some more clarification.

You wrote "This location is actually correct. All updates will show this location (it is where the CCS eclipse folder is and updates need to know this location). Note that this is not the actual path where the update will get installed (BIOS will be installed in "C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments" in your environment). "

Does this mean when I do the update via CCS some information will get into the eclipse folder and the "real" update will get into "C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments" ?

Do I need to uninstall the features from "C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments" first?

Do you have any recommendation how I should proceed, i.e. should I do the updates via CCS?

    Thanks,

    Frank

No. But all updates will install in a path that is relative from the eclipse folder.

No. If you update a version of BIOS or the compiler, for example, it will simply install it in a new folder so you will have both old and new version at your disposal.

You don't need it since you already installed  BIOS\XDC separately. It's up to you if you want to reinstall via CCS update manager so it will stop bugging you that there is an update available.

  • Ki,

    thanks.
