Unable to debug using USB without emulator.

Hi All,

          Dear friends,
Thank you for your quick response. I installed the CCS Version: 4.2.1.00004 and StellarisWareInstaller(SW-DK-LM3S9B96-6852.exe respective to my EVM DK-LM3S9B96).

I have done "Rebuild Active Project" successfully. But while doing "Debug active project" I am getting error like this " CORTEX_M3_0: Error connecting to the target ".

I followed the instructions as per user manual. Target also configured as "Stellaris In circuit Debug Interface" under that  LM3S9B96 Development board. I removed TCK,TMS,TDO,TDI and Pin1 jumpers as mentioned in manual for USB ICDI.

I don't have any emulators and device manager showing that new hard ware not installed properly with yellow "!" mark.

" ! Texas Instrument XSD560 PCI JTAG Emulator"

Can you please suggest me how to proceed ? I am trying without XSD560 emulator.

Is that the complete text of the error message?
What type of license do you have CCS set up for? If you got the Stellaris kit with CCS you should be able to use the "Free Limited License". Please take a look at a related post here, and more details on CCS licensing here.

    .

This message can be safely ignored when you are not using XDS560 emulator.

If you are using the on-board emulation, you should be using Mode 1 (Internal ICDI) as mentioned in page 16 of the User's Manual. Removing the jumpers for TCK,TMS,TDO,TDI and Pin1 is for Mode 2.

You can ignore this error. Windows is telling you that it found XDS560 PCI drivers (which CCS installed) but it can't find any associated HW. If you are not using XDS560 PCI emulation, it does not matter.

  • Dear All,

                   Thank you.

I got license from TI by choosing 90 days extension CCS V4 as per your guide lines.

I tried in mode -1 ( Page 16 of User Manual) still I am getting same problem as mentioned below.

"CORTEX_M3_0: Error connecting to the target ".

Apart from I didn't get any message.

I am using CCS Version: 4.2.1.00004 , Wndows XP  and StellarisWare Installer for my DK-LM3S9B96.

Please suggest me how to proceed ?

  • Some suggestions can be found in the troubleshooting guide. Try using a new workspace or clean out target cache files as mentioned in the guide. If that fails to resolve the issue, generating a debug server log and attaching it here can be helpful for us to diagnose the issue.

    Thanks

    ki

    Dear All,
Still I am getting the error like as follows.

"CORTEX_M3_0: Error connecting to the target."

Here with I am attaching complete history of my CCS V4 which are all required for trouble shooting.
Kindly suggest me how to proceed further.

  • Thanks for the additional details.

    I see an error:

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4

!MESSAGE Error: CORTEX_M3_0: Error initializing emulator: Unable to load C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments\ccsv4\DebugServer\drivers\DebugLib.dll because The specified module could not be found.

Can you check and see if this file is indeed missing?

  • Dear Ki-Soo Lee,

I found the file "DebugLib.dll" in the specified file.

Still it not running and the CCS v4 showing 18 days only.

    Shall I re-install it ?

Is it use full for me ?
