Hi

Is it possible to acquire data from TSW14J65  with some parallel requests, send a request, and before the data is fully retrieved to a file or other means like API method another request is running in parallel retrieving the next data?

Thanks

Yaron

  • Hello,

you may check out our HSDC PRO automation code for details on API/DLL handling. Once you installed HSDC PRO, you may find the details within the default installer folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\High Speed Data Converter Pro\HSDCPro Automation DLL

  • Hi

I have been using the Automation DLL for a while now.

If you send a request to read the DDR the data is saved into files, if you send the request again these files are deleted and start from the beginning.

    Is there another way?

    Thanks,

    Yaron

  • Hi Yaron,

The automation is a linear process. We did not incorporate parallel process to fetch and save. sorry.

  • Hi

My problem is that with your implementation, retrieving the data consumes a lot of time. 1GB data can take to one minute. I have been working with your card for a few months now and I am stuck,

Our application is a LiDAR system, I am using your card to retrieve data and use it to create 3D frames (Point cloud), like a 3D movie. so I need  to constantly receive data from the sampler.

When we chose this product we assumed there will some kind of interface that we will be able to use, for example, a  TCP socket. we did not imagine that the way to work with this card is to operate a UI from a DLL and save the data to a file.

So basically what I need to know is if this can be accomplished with your card and how ? if not we will need to search for another solution to use in our system.

    Thanks,

    Yaron

  • Hi,

Since you are working on Lidar, I have assigned you to another team who may be able to help you out more and want to understand you application. Thanks.

    -Kang

  • Hi Kang,

I have not heard from the other team you have assigned me to.

    Can you please check.

    Thanks,

    Yaron

  • Yaron,

The old capture data will be over written by HSDC Pro whenever a fresh capture is performed. In order to save the data of the current capture please use one of the following automation functions.

    1.       Save_Raw_Data_As_CSV – for saving the captured data in CSV file

    a.       The CSV file created by running this automation function will have “N” columns for “N” channels, where each column corresponds to a channel data.

    2.       ADC_Save_Raw_Data_As_Binary_File – for saving the captured data in binary file

    a.       The Bin file created by this automation function will contain all channels data in interleaved fashion. For example if the number of channels is “4” then the Bin file will contain data in the following order.

    Data order: Channel1Sample1, Channel2Sample1, Channel3Sample1, Channel4Sample1, Channel1Sample2, Channel2Sample2, Channel3Sample2, Channel4Sample2,……, Channel1SampleN, Channel2SampleN, Channel3SampleN, Channel4SampleN.

    b.      The Endianness of the data is Big-Endian format (LSB-MSB)

For more information about these automation functions, please refer to “HSDCPro Automation DLL Manual.doc” which will be available at the following location.

HSDCPro Automation DLL Manual location: [HSDC Pro Install Location]\HSDCPro Automation DLL\Manual and Examples\HSDCPro Automation DLL Manual.doc

Default HSDC Pro Install location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\High Speed Data Converter Pro

    Regards,

    Jim

  • Yaron,

Please copy\rename the contents of the current capture data from the following location once the capture is done, before proceeding with the next capture.

HSDC Pro Data Path: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Texas Instruments\High Speed Data Converter Pro\HSDCPro Data

Note: There is no option in HSDC Pro to append the newly captured data to the old data.

    Regards,

    Jim

  • Hi Jim

I am already coping the data from  "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Texas Instruments\High Speed Data Converter Pro\HSDCPro Data"

The problem is that I have to wait between captures. I am trying to establish a streaming mechanism. So, while I am waiting for the data to be received, I want to send additional capture requests. making the data to constantly flow. Currently, I have enormous 30-60 seconds of gaps between captures.

    Thanks,

    Yaron

  • Yaron,

With the current TSW14J56revD Firmware and HSDC Pro Software architecture, we cannot establish a streaming mechanism (making the data to constantly flow) between the FPGA and PC. But we can reduce the time taken between the capture cycles by using the direct calls to the “TSW14J56revDBoard_CLib_1.0.dll” (Board DLL), but this method will not make the data to flow constantly (i.e. no streaming mechanism possible).

    Regards,

    Jim

  • Hi Jim

Do you have examples of how to use the TSW14J56revDBoard_CLib_1.0.dll?

Is it a different DLL then the AutomationDLL I am using which is using the UI and is incredibly slow?

    Thanks,

    Yaron
