CCS/CODECOMPOSER: Simulators for TI DSP in Code Composer Studio V10 vs V5.5

Part Number: CODECOMPOSER

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi

I was trying to understand the performance of TI C66x DSPs.  I found that there is a simulator for the TI DSPs while reading through various forums.  I could not find the same in CCSv10.  The source I had seen was refering to was using CCSv5.5.  So I downloaded and found that this version had the TI DSP Simulator.

Why I am not getting the simulator in CCSv10?  If I just wanted to compute cycles for executing my code, which only comprises of for loops and computation code, without accessing any I/O peripherals, is this simulator in V5.5 Accurate ?  If the simulator was discontinued in higher versions, why was it discontinued and what kinds of errors can one anticipate when using the simulator to predict computation times ?

Thanks and Regards
