Hi,

I am having some trouble when trying to run EnergyTrace++ on my not too old laptop (I7-8565U + 16GB RAM + PCIe SSD). Current trace display usually lags quite a bit, while trying to display CPU/peripheral states it usually usually crashes, with error message like the following:

Cortex_M4_0: JTAG Communication Error: (Error -261 @ 0x0) Invalid response was received from the XDS110. (Emulation package 9.2.0.00002)

Or the whole CCS crashes, screenshot attached.

My question is, what is minimum requirement to run EnergyTrace++ hardware wise? I assume the bottleneck is at CPU. Will Ryzen 7 4800U/H be powerful enough? Or something even more powerful is needed?

Your PC is more than fast enough. Are you connecting to the LaunchPad via a USB hub?

Does the error only occur when using EnergyTrace?

Hi John,

I connected launchpad directly to laptop via dedicated USB 3 port and the original USB cable. When ET-HDR is running, CPU usage is usually very high.

I also unchecked automatically start ET and manually start it after starting debug session. This helps. But once in a while, I still see the errors. When that happens, I just unplug the launchpad and restart CCS. That usually solves the problem.
