Compiler/C2000-CGT: Failed when importing "can_loopback_bitfields"

When I imported the sample project "can_loopback_bitfields", an error occurred:

Error: Import failed for project 'can_loopback_bitfields_cpu01' because its compiler definition is not available. Please install the C2000v16.6 compiler before importing this project - click 'View > CCS App Center' to check if compiler updates are available, or install the compiler manually and register it with CCS through 'Preferences > CCS > Build > Compilers'.

However, the version of CCS is 7.1.0 and the compiler is TIv16.9.1. I cannot find the 'C2000v16.6 compiler' on the TI website.

How can I fix this issue?

Compiler version 16.6.x.LTS is over 4 years old. This sample project is probably as old, or older. Please consider using a the latest release of the example.

That said, there is a solution to your problem. Please see the Installing New Software part of the larger article on CCS Updates. The screen shots in that article show installing an ARM compiler. But the process is the same for any compiler released by TI. The screen shot below shows that C28x compiler version 16.6.0.STS is available.

I did follow your process. But I cannot install it successfully. After click the 'next' button, it shows as following:

The installation cannot be completed as requested.

Unfortunately, the image you attached is not visible. The usual reason is explained in this FAQ.

Please make sure the problem is not due to a proxy. Please see the proxy configuration part of the larger article on updating CCS.
