CCS/AMIC110: Issue in flashing the code to AMIC110

Hi Frank,

I have converted the .bin file to _ti.bin using tiimage.exe and flashed it at the offset 0x20000.

But still the code is not working

Hi,

When I tried to run the boot loader alone, I am getting error message:

"One or more sections of your program falls into a memory region that is not writable. These regions will not actually be written to the target. Check your linker configuration and/or memory map".

Please help me on how to proceed further

I'm not aware of any other method to program the SPI flash. What board are you using? Are there any other non-volatile memories available on the board?

I suggest comparing the memory map added by the GEL file for your board to the memory map in your linker command file and .map file.

To find the GEL file(s), do the following in CCS:

• Launch target
• Select Tools -> GEL files

You can find the location of the GEL file on your computer by hovering the mouse over the GEL file in window that pops up. The same window will allow you to check the debugger memory map configured by the GEL file. To see this, select "Memory Map".

Files in the above post are the gel files, and when I open the .map file of bootloader I found the memory configuration as follows,

I think both are different, So how to resolve this issue now

Hi Hema,

How much of the memory regions in the .map file are used by the bootloader program?

Please see the AM335x TRM, Table 2-1. L3 Memory Map. In the .map file I notice "SRAM Internal" & "L3 OCMC0" have been combined into "OCMCRAM" in the .map file. How much of OCMCRAM is consumed?

Two things you could try:
1) Modify the GEL file so "SRAM Internal" and "OCMC-RAM" are combined into a single memory region in the map.
2) Comment out the call to GEL_MapOn() so all memory is configured as RAM.

1. When I commented the GEL_MapOn() i am not even able to load the code

2. When I modified the Gel file to have single memory, I am still getting the same error message.

Is this error message the cause for the firmware not loading when i load the code using flash writer?

Do you observe memory used in the .map file which isn't defined in the GEL file? Is too much memory used from a particular region for the region definition in the GEL file?

Perhaps, I don't think we have enough information yet to say. Can you try flashing another simple example (like GPIO LED blink) from the PDK and see if that boots?

Hi Frank,

I have verified the .map file, but the memory usage seems to be fine

I tried to load LED blink code from spi flash writer, even this code did not work.

C:\ti\pdk_am335x_1_0_12\packages\ti\starterware\binary\gpio_app_led_blink\bin\am335x-evm\gcc\gpio_app_led_blink_a8host_debug_ti.bin

This led blink code hasn't worked even when i ran the .out file as well

Hi Hema,

Are you using the AMIC110 ICE board?

Unfortunately I don't currently have access to an AMIC110 board, so I can't debug this issue with the GPIO LED blink example app.

Can you try flashing another simple example that works when you load it as .out file?
