CCS/MSP-EXP430FR5994: Board Not Detected

I'm having trouble after the initial install of CCS 10.1.0 on my Windows 10 machine. When I try to detect my board, I receive the following error message: {"msg":"COM6: Could not power up the device.","name":"COM6","type":"require-update"}. The board is connected through a USB cable, and LEDs indicate that it is receiving power. On device manager I see two COM ports active when the device is plugged in: MSP Application UART1 (COM5) and MSPDebug Interface(COM6)

Any advice on how to proceed from here?

Are you able to start a CCS debug session with your launchpad?

Ki,

I was able to solve this issue by manually locating the appropriate example, attempting to load them to board, and following the procedure to update the firmware on the development board.
