I use CCSv4.2.1.00004 with XDS100v2 to debug the Cortex-A8 on AM3715.
As soon as I invoke the Trace View with the target connected, CCS crashes.
CCS works ok as long as I don't invoke the Trace View.
Crash dump is attached.
Is this a known problem?

The closest board I have been able to obtain is a Mistral OMAP3730 EVM. I haven't had any luck getting ETB going on it. Tells me there are no ETB device definitions for it (filed a defect for that).
Can you try turning on trace logging to see what errors are occuring? http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Troubleshooting_CCS#cTools.2FTrace_Logging

DM3730 should work just as well - Trace hook-up is the same there. Just tested and the same bug occurs on a Beagleboard-XM which has DM3730 on it.
Just use the Trace hook-up instructions for OMAP3530.

Once you are at enhancements, I would suggest a broader request to add all the recently released devices such as C6A8168, AM3892, DM3730, AM3715, AM3517 and so on.
In the longer run it might also be good to structure the whole setup into a tree structure with MSP430, C2000, Cortex-M3 and so on as top-level nodes. Looking at the device release schedule we might otherwise get overwhelmed with parts fairly soon.

Thanks. A couple more questions: What port number did you use for the icepick subpath? Did you enter a "TraceDeviceId" for the CSETB?
I still get the same error from Trace Control. I am able to open the Trace Display now, but it doesn't have any data to display.

you don't need to set anything to TraceDeviceId field. just leave it as default value (0x0).
One issue i can see from trace log is that you installation environment doesn't support AM3715 yet. you need to install emupack 5.0.281.1.exe
However, event without the proper support (xml) file, it should not crash. can you please list what have you done before you launch trace view (i.e. bring up trace control, setup trace job via breakpoint manager...etc).

I haven't been able to reproduce the crash that Matthias is seeing. However if I install the patch you pointed to I no longer get the message about trace not being supported. We will have to see if installing the newer emulation pack helps with the issue Matthias is seeing.

I do not perform any specific setup etc.
I have an AM3715 configuration (reuse of OMAP3630 with DSP in Bypass) where I added the ETB according to the wiki description.
I connect to the target (works ok), open the Trace View and this immediatly makes CCS crash. No other setup etc.
I will be back in the office on Monday and check if the Emupack resolves this issue.

I can reproduce the problem using beagleboard-xM + xds100v2. However, if i used blackhawk 560m emulator instead, i don't see the issue any more. In addtion, I used the same xds100v2 emulator on beagleboard (omap3430), I can get through trace control setup and collect trace data.
I will continue to investage this issue. In the mean time, i will suggest you to use any 560 emulator as work around.

I have verified that i can do cortexA8 CPU trace with xds100v2 on omap3530 (similar to AM3715). I have tried this on the latest ccsv5.1 post M8 version, which is not officially released yet. I will suggest you to try on ccsv5.1M8 release first. I believe the support is there because there is nothing changed since that release regarding omap3 support with xds100v2. Let me know if you have any more questions.
