MSP430: Error connecting to the target

Hi,

I have an board with MSP430F2132 and I am trying to debug a project.

The following error appears: MSP430: Error connecting to the target: The target setup (MSP430F2132) does not match the actual target type (MSP430F21x1).

If i change the settings for the MSP430F21x1 it works.

I'm new inutilization of the Code Composer, so i have no idea what is going wrong.

Any advice to solve this would be very appreciated.

Hi,

I tried with the Code Composer Essentials v3.1 SR1 Professional and with Code Composer Studio v4 Core Edition, and the error is the same.

I forgot to say that i'm using EZ430-F2013.

So your project is for a F2132 but your using a F2013 EZ430? CCS definitely won't like that. Basically we pass down to the driver what we think we are trying to connect to and if it doesn't match what is really there the driver will return that error.

Right click on your project. Select "Build Properties", then select "CCS Build" on the left. Now on the right you will be able to change the project settings so that it is set to F2013.

Maybe i'm not have explained well.

The processor I'm using is the MSP430F2132 and I'm using the EZ430-F2013 to programmer.

Ok. I think I get it now. You took the little F2013 processor card off the end of the EZ430 stick and stuck on your own target board with a F2132 instead. Is that correct?

I checked with the MSP430 team. Unfortunately the eZ430-F2013 interface does not support F2132. There is a table on page 16 of the Flash Emulation Tool Overview document (SLAU278E.pdf in ccsv4\msp430\doc) that describes which devices are supported by each interface. For eZ430-F2013 it lists:

Supports only F20xx, G2x01, G2x11, G2x21, G2x31

To use F2132 you really need to be using the MSP-FET430UIF USB interface.

i too have a similar problem here with my MSP430FR5739 experimenter board and dell laptop running windows 7 home basic. even after many many researches also i couldn't fix it. every time its showing the error- MSP430: Error initializing emulator: Could not find MSP-FET430UIF on specified COM port even i downloaded the latest msp430 driver updates: MSP430_DLL_Developer_Package_Rev_3_02_005_004"". but it still didn't work. plz can someone help...??
