CCS: Reboot Windows after each update

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I am running CCS on a Windows 10 computer. Today I updated to 10.1.1.00004. When I started the installation, I got a message box "There is a pending reboot". I rebooted the computer 2 times, but this message box came up each time again. On the third attempt I ignored it and continued the installation. After the installation I updated all compilers. But after each update of my compilers (TIVA, MSP320, CC32xx, PRU) and the Linux Tools I got a message "You have to reboot your computer". Never before I had to reboot my computer for an installation of CCS or Eclipse or even for a compiler update. Is this a bug of CCS or a problem on my computer - It is quite annoying :( ?

Regards

Klaus

  • Hello Klaus,

The reboot message is a bit of a false positive. I found that I don't need the reboot despite getting the message. There has been complaint about this message before but I'm not sure what the current plan is to resolve it. I'll need to investigate further and let you know.

    Thanks

  • I got some more clarification from the installer engineer. It is more of a warning. The reason is that there are some cases where a reboot is actually helpful to stave off any potential CCS issues when running right after the installation. Hence the installer looks for any system reboot pending, even if unrelated to CCS. I do agree it is a bit confusing and misleading (hopefully we can clear things up in the future). But in most cases the warning can be ignored.
