CCS/MSP432P401R: XDS110 connection error when I try to debug.

Hello. I previously brought a mechatronic mech kit in order to undergo an edX mechatronic course. However I believe there is something wrong with my MSP432p401R. I always get the error
MSP432 (Error -260 @ 0x0)
An attempt to connect to the XDS110 has failed....
whenever I try to debug. I have read all the guidance on your website however have still not managed to fix this problem. I have seeked advice from the staff team from my course for a month now and still haven’t resolved the problem. I have also tried the support utilities that I was recommended by a case I created and cannot go further than accepting the license. I tried the reset download also and the terminal window tells me it cannot connect to XDS110. I am left convinced that the in built XDS110 may be broken as it is just failing to connect despite the PC recognising something plugged in. I have tried with multiple computers windows and Apple. I have attached some images below. Thank you and I would appreciate some advice.

Can you open a terminal and browse to:

<CCS INSTALL DIR>/ccs_base/common/uscif/xds110

then run:

./xdsdfu -e

Does it detect any probe?

Thank You for the reply. I have tried this and I get "no file name was specified" like in the attached image below but I am not sure what this means. I have my micro controller plugged in when I am doing this. I couldn't do the browsing on the terminal directly so I went to my Finder and followed the pathway to execute the xdsdfu.

call the utility with the -e option:

xdsdfu -e

Yeh It does not recognise any device.

hmm... the probe is not detected at all. Do you have a Windows machine you can use? If so, can you plug the launchpad to that and run the same xdsdfu utility there?

yeh I have tried it on windows also and the same thing happens. Its quite annoying as I am unable to complete my course that instructed me to buy all the equipment.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Basically the XDS110 probe is not being detected by the host PC. If your have tried multiple PCs and it is not being detected on any of them, it could be a HW issue with the board. One other thing to try is another USB cable. If that doesn't help, then It would recommend trying to get a replacement board.

Yes nothing changed when I changed different cables. I would appreciate it if you could let me know how I should get a replacement for the one I brought as being received a broken Micro controller, I don't think I should therefore pay for another one. I am a student who wants to complete a mechatronic course that informs us to use one of your TI kits and investing in that was already a lot of money. This error has already waisted a lot of my time. I hope you understand where I am coming from.

Sorry for the pain. I would contact your local TI rep, or the distributor that you purchase the kit from.
