I was doing a project and was working with 5V and im not sure if i connected something wrong, but when i plugged it in it seemed fine but when i tried to flash code onto the msp432 it gave me that error

Ethan,

Are you by chance using EnergyTrace? The most common cause I can see for 261 is when things get into a bad state when debug and EnergyTrace are both being used.

There is a bit more information at the link below as well as links to other E2E threads where people have hit this issue:

You could also try running the following utility to see if we can at least detect the 110:

<CCS installation dir>/ccs_base/common/uscif/xds110/xdsdfu -e

Well that is good to hear. In other threads where people have hit this it was often related to more than one channel being in use on the XDS110. EnergyTrace is the most common use of another channel. Hopefully it does not come back.
