CCS/MSP430FR5989: msp430 gcc compiler warning about a persistent variable

Hello,

I'm trying to use a persistent counter in my code. Although I did initialize it, the msp430 gcc compiler gives me this warning:

variable 'T_Counter' was declared persistent and should be explicitly initialized [-Wattributes]

and here how I initialize that variable :

 uint16_t __attribute__((persistent)) T_Counter =0;

what is causing this warning and how do I fix it ?

I appreciate any help.

Hi,

Is this a C++ program?

It is a known bug that this warning is erroneously emitted when using the "persistent" attribute with C++.

It has been fixed but the release that contains the fix may not be made public for a while.

Just use "section(".persistent")" instead of the "persistent" attribute.

yes it is C++ compiler.

It worked and no more warning.
