Real Time Mode Errors

Hi there, I hope you can help me,

I'm having a problem connecting in real time mode to my board with my XDS510LC emulator, I can connect in normal mode, download code to flash, running step by step debugging but when I go to Debug->Real-Time Mode a series of errors messages appear, and I have to disconnect and download code again. I’m using CCS v3.3. And this are the error messages that I get:

Error 0x20000026/-1156 Severe Error during: Memory, Register, Execution, Lost processor clock. Device may be operating in a low-power mode.

Error 0x00000004/-1140 Error during: Register, JTAG protocol reset, detected TRSTn assertion.

Error 0x20000024/-1138 Severe Error during: Register, Execution, Processor aborted debug context.

Error 0x20000024/-1142 Severe Error during: Register, Execution, Processor blocked debug accesses.

Thank You Aarti for your answer. Unfortunately I have tried all the suggestions there and none of them seems to work for me. I download the code and debug with breakpoints and such, but when I try to go in Real Time I get those errors. Gel option hasn’t work either, the DSP stays there and does nothing.

Maziel,

At what point do you try to enable real-time mode? Could you describe the sequence of steps at which point this error is triggered?

Which specific device are you using and is it a eZdsp or custom board? And what is the version of CCS 3.3 and do you have the latest drviers for XDS510LC emulator?

Do you see the error about "processor operating in low-power mode" if you do not enable real-time mode? Is it possible that the device is indeed going to low power mode after running for some amount of time?

This is my CCS version: 3.3.82.13, IDE: 5.98.0.393, Code Generatio Tools v4.1.3. and I have the latest ZDS510LC drivers.

This is a custom board, I hvae tried the same procedure with my eZdsp board and I can get it to run on real time.

The seuqence of steps is as follows:

+ After connection I download the code Open F28xx On - Chip Flash Programmer.

+ run

+halt

+Debug-> Real Time Mode

+ Error. At this point the error messages appears and It gives me the options to retry or to disconnect. When I hit retry then another error message appears, and so on. Or I can disconnect and start the procedure again, with Load Symbols Only instead of flash downloading and the code runs ok in NON Real Time.

The device is not going to low power mode, I can let it run for hours in NON Real Time and no problems at all.

Aarti,

I looked at the documents you mentioned but the solution doesn’t seems to help. I did a dummy read of the memory and still the same results.

Partial walkarround:

The owner of the board came with a solution to make real time mode work. after copying the RAM Functions from Flash put a breakepoint before any interrupts is enabled. while in the breakepoint enable real Time Mode and run. This way I have no problems running in real time.
