CCS/UCD3138128A: Is there a way to obfuscate the code in .pp files generated in CCS?

Part Number: UCD3138128A

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi experts,

My customer need to use the .pp files for firmware debug, but I don't want to share the source code with them. I noticed that the .pp files generated in CCS contain the source code, so is there a way to obfuscate the code in .pp files or something like that?

BR,

Xuemei

Unfortunately, no.  The option --preproc_only causes no comments to appear in the preprocessed file.  That is the best option available.

    Thanks and regards,

  • Hey George,

    Thanks for your reply!

I still have another question here. The .pp files become like below when I set the mode as automatic, which seems that there's no source code any more, instead, there are some including path. Do you think is this an alternative? Can you please kindly comment on this?

  • It is unlikely that this variant of the preprocessor output is useful for solving your problem.

That is the preprocessor output produced when using the option --preproc_dependency. To learn more about this option, please search for it in the TI ARM compiler manual. You'll see the files produced are intended to be used as input to a make build utility. CCS uses this option, in a hidden manner, when using gmake to build the project.
