I have a fresh 64-bit Ubuntu 10.10 install on a laptop that I want to put my CCS companion license on.
So I downloaded CCSv5.0.2.00006.tar.gz
It took some work to get it to install. I had to install some 32-bit libraries just to get the install to happen.
I installed as root, and followed the instructions here... http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Linux_Host_Support#Installation_Instructions
Unfortunately, I can't get CCSv5 to launch. The launcher is on the desktop now. I double click, and no joy. I vi'd the launcher, and found the executable path at /usr/local/CCSv5/ccsv5/eclipse/eclipse. So I tried to run that from the command line, and no joy.
I ran an 'strace' on it, and saw myriad errors. 5468.output.txt
Any thoughts on what's keeping this from running? Thanks everybody!
Hi FastFourier,
To run 32bit applications on 64bit Ubuntu one needs to install the 32bit library packages (ia32-libs) .
See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/32bit_and_64bit
I'll review the installation installation instructions Wiki to see if this information is missing.
Best regards,
Martin
I had only installed libc6-i386 since that's what the installer was crashing on. It's a subset of ia32-libs. The full is32-libs resolves all of the issues. Synaptic for the install. :)
I'm glad to hear that this resolved your issue. I updated the CCS installation Wiki to include a topic on installing CCS on 64bit Ubuntu systems.
Best regards,
Martin
Thanks! I think that'll be useful for many users. 64bit is getting to be the default these days. Thanks again.
