CCS v4.1.0 Installation Error.

Hello,

I had perused other existing posts regarding installation errors for CCSv4 and judged that this is a new query after all.

My customer is trying to install this version with his notebook's spec:

"Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2 Intel Pentium M 1.86GHz 2GB RAM

Windows: German Language"

His problem stated reads: "The installation of CCS 4.2.1. as well as CCS 4.1.0 stops always at "Installing Spectrum Digital Emulation Drivers" -> "Cleaning up install..."

He has already checked the CCS FAQ and tried modifying the Windows Language setting temporarily to English for the installation. that didn't help. The funny thing is, the mentioned log files "C:\TI_InstallLog.txt " or "TI_CCSv4_Install.log" - he could not locate. I've asked him to check for hidden files on windows. Nevertheless, since it's a windows machine, i thought i might find somebody suggesting me ways to get past this.

Thanks.

  • Govind,

The installer log will be located in: C:\Program Files\InstallJammer Registry\ccsv4\DF98E52A-EF99-44CD-87FE-983EC4F3E105\

However, as the install seems to be stopping at the end of the SD step, the log file isn't likely to add useful information.

My suggestion would be to re-run the install, but use the custom install type and deselect the SD component. Assuming the install completes, run the SD installer in isolation (browse to it in the install folder and run the SD installer executable by itself).

  • Andy,

Your workaround proposal worked for me!

FYI: The TI installation log file is neither at c:\ nor in c:\Program Files\INstallJammer... (of course I maked hidden files visible). It's realy weird.

    Thanks,

    Heiko

  • Heiko,

    The problem is odd indeed.

If there is an opportunity to reproduce the problem, it would be most useful to know the following:

    1)     When the screen stopped did the SdConfigEx desktop icon get populated?

    2)     Did the Sd560v2Config desktop icon get populated?

    3)     In the emulation directory did the SD uninstall package get populated?

This should help us determine specifically where the installation is stalling.  This would pinpoint whether the problem is with the SD installer itself and with the handshake between the SD installer and the master (CCS) installer.

  • Nabil,

    1)     When the screen stopped did the SdConfigEx desktop icon get populated?

    2)     Did the Sd560v2Config desktop icon get populated?

    3)     In the emulation directory did the SD uninstall package get populated?

to 1,2) Both were not populated. At least it did not catch my attention.

    to 3) I don't know.

Sorry but I guess not much info to you without redoing the installation process, which I want realy avoid.
