Code Composer Studio Slow Debug in Mac OSX Big Sur

Running CCS 10.2.  I just upgraded to OSX Big Sur and the interaction with TI processors is slow.  I tried an MSP430 and a C2000 board.  Both get spinning balls and respond significantly slower than before.  I now see (a bit late) that officially Big Sur is not currently supported but I want to let you know to look for this issue in your testing.

Thanks

  • Also, Please let me know  if there are any workarounds that would help until CCS becomes OSX Big Sur compatible.

  • Hello Neil,

There are several known issues with CCS on Big Sur, such as:

    https://sir.ext.ti.com/jira/browse/EXT_EP-10173

    https://sir.ext.ti.com/jira/browse/EXT_EP-10249

    among others.

While we plan on officially supporting (testing with) Bug Sur with CCS 10.3.0, not all of the issues will be resolved by then. We anticipate the majority of the issues will be resolved with CCS 11.0.0, which will pick up a new Eclipse version that resolves many of the issues.

One thing that I have not heard is any issues with slow debug performance on Big Sur. I have used CCS 10.2.0 with my Macbook Air 2014 running Big Sur and did not notice any slowdown in performance from when I was running Catalina. I have not hear of any slowdown issues from the automated tests for CCS on Big Sur. However, I will pass this message on so that people are aware of it (and will look out for it).

    Thanks

    ki
