CCS/CCSTUDIO: Plans for M1 Macs

Hi Team,

Customer want to know if TI has plan to officially support new apple computers? If there is a plan, what will be the lead time?

Based in the link above, software will not run on the ARM based M1.

Thank you and looking forward for your kind response.

Regards,

Maynard

  • Maynard,

We do not officially support CCS running on an Apple M1 at this time.  However I do have a macbook air with an M1 and I have been running CCS on it.  So far the only issues I have seen have been related to BigSur and not the M1.  The x86 emulation that Apple provides works really well for me.  I am not really seeing any performance difference between the Air with an M1 and my i7 based Pro.  The BigSur issues we are seeing are planned to be addressed by CCSv11 in June and are mostly related to resizing windows and moving windows around within CCS that should get fixed when we update the Eclipse and JRE that we use.

    Regards,

    John

  • This is actually more of a question for the Eclipse folks.

  • Well true native support would also require us to provide Arm compiled versions of all of our binaries (debugger, compilers...).

  • Yeah, but you have plausible deniability until you have an M1 Eclipse.
