CCS v3.3 Upgrade installation problem

I recently installed CCS v3.3 on a Windows XP machine in order to support a legacy RTDX project.  I successfully installed the program  from the original installation CD and opened the Update Advisor to download and install the latest updates.

All of the tool updates and DSP/BIOS update installed successfully.  However, when I tried to install the CCS v3.3 update, the following occurred;

1. The installer splash screen was displayed,

2. A data.cab file was expanded.

3 The hour-glass was displayed for several seconds and the installation halted with no response.

When I opened at the Task Manager, I could see that the CCSUpdate and Setup, exe were listed in the task window, but neither were executing.

I don't have the date code of the update but it is whatever was effective yesterday, 2/9/2011.

I'm going to try an earlier update to see if it installs, but I would ultimately like to have the most recent version of the software.  Suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Bob

  • Bob,

Check the end of question 1.2.1 of the CCS3.3 FAQ at:

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/CCStudio_FAQ

Installing the update while running in Safe mode has worked for a few people. You may want to try that.

    Hope this helps,

  • Rafael,

Thanks for your response.  Unfortunately, I'm doing the installation on a MacBook that is running Win XP with Bootcamp and there doesn't appear to be a simple way to get it to boot in Safe Mode.  I also tried an earlier CCS 3.3 update that I had on a thumb-drive and it also wouldn't install.  (The Bootcamp configuration may be the problem).

However, it turns out to be a non-issue.  I had problems running RTDX applications on  the earliest versions of CCS 3.3, so I just assumed that I would have to upgrade.  Then it occurred to me that RTDX is a DSP/BIOS feature, which I had successfully upgraded,  so I tried my RTDX application and it runs fine.

I marked the answer verified, even though I wasn't able to actually try Safe Mode.  If I find a way to boot Safe Mode, I'll try the installation again and let you know how it goes.

    Thanks

    Bob
