TIDA-00462: TPS61046

Part Number: TIDA-00462
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CD4049UB, TPS61046, LMP7715, DIP-ADAPTER-EVM, MSP430FR5969, TLV61046A

Dear TI Team,

We want to design 'TIDA-00462'.

Following TIDA-00462 user guide, I purchased the parts as below.

TPS61046, TPS7133, CD4049UB, LMP7715

I would like to purchase an DIP-adapter-EVM for connection with lunch pad.

I found the right adapter for the parts, TPS7133, CD4049UB, LMP7715.

But I couldn't find the right adapter for TPS61046.

And I understand that this part only produces the 'YFF' package.

How do I connect TPS61046 to the MSP430FR5969 lunchpad?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Chihyun In

  • Hello Chihyun

thank you for your interest into our reference designs.
I think you are looking for a BGA-6 to DIP-6 adapter. I found respective  "IPC0220"  BGA-6 to DIP-6 SMT Adapter (0.4 mm pitch) on digikey, chip quik and proto-advantage.
Apart from that you might consider to  use the TPS61046 evaluation module  https://www.ti.com/tool/TPS61046EVM-682 for the purpose of evaluation.

Please have furthermore a look to TLV61046A which comes in a SOT-23 package, for which you might already have a fitting adapter.

In case that you intend the use of adapters it is highly recommended to follow the layout guidelines / examples given  in the "Layout" section of the datasheets. Input and output capacitors needs to be connected with the shortest possible connection to the VIN, VOUT and GND pins of the device. Similar rule applies for the inductor and the output voltage divider. This means, that you need to build the complete boost circuitry on that adapter and to use the DIP "pins" of the adapter for connecting only the VIN, GND and VOUT. Especially the SW and FB pins of the adapter should not be connected to any other external board (also not to the LaunchPad).
