PMP8740: Not able to get the -5V

Part Number: PMP8740

Hi,

We have referring PMP8740 design, TPS560200DBV switching buck converter,

+5V is ok,

-5V not getting.

Kindly support .

  • Hello Sathishkumar,

Do you have any load on 5V or 3.3V outputs? The -5V should be present, when on 5V or 3.3V output there are at least few milli-amps load, and, at the same time, on the 5V the load is less than 10mA. If you do not get any voltage on -5V output, it might be the inductor L1 not perfectly soldered. In order to check this out, please connect a scope probe to the cathode of D24: here you should have a square wave; if this does not happen, probably the pin 4 or 3 of L1 is not soldered. Please let me know.

    Best regards,

    Roberto
