TIDA-010054: TIDA-010054

Part Number: TIDA-010054

Hi,

In the design guide of the DAB converter, there are three different current signals sensed both on the primary and secondary side, i.e., I_hv, Is_tank, I_lv, Ip_tank, and I_ctl. Could you please explain why currents have been sensed at different terminals of the DAB circuit and what are their uses in the control algorithm?

Thanks and regards,

Upasana Sarma

  • Hello,

Thanks for your question. I_lv is used for the control loop output current regulating (battery charging mode - power forward direction); I_hv is ,vice versa, supposed to be used for batter discharging mode - reverse power direction output current regulating. Ip_tank was planned for flux balancing with additional SW control loop to replace DC blocking caps(It's an option, but not implemented yet. In current SDK SW, Ip_tank is used for tank current protection.). Is_tank is the same purpose as Ip_tank, but used for reverse power flow. I_ctl is additional feature to sense the rectified current after sec tank, which has better loop BW, but poorer load regulation response. At the moment it is not used yet.

    Hope it's clear for you.

    Regards

    Lei
