CCS supports MacOS: macOS Host Support for CCS (ti.com)

HalCoGen doesn't support MacOS. It supports Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows 10.

CCS macOS version supports Hercules microcontroller.

The Halcogen is a tool to configure peripherals, interrupts, clocks, and other Hercules microcontroller parameters, and generate peripheral initialization and driver code. You can run HALCoGen on windows machine and generate HW driver, and import the driver to your ccs project on your mac machine.

You don't have to use the HALCOGen.

I guess Halcogen makes it easier for beginners.

Not sure, though, if its a great idea to have a separate system for using each of the TI tools.

I should have checked all this stuff, before buying the kit. Well, better late than never to learn.
