Help - TINA-TI does not detect reverse supply !

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA335

Problem:

Using Tina 9-TI to simulate basic non inverting amplifier using OPA335.Obvious blunders in schematic, like reversing polarity of power supply , Supply voltage = 50V FAIL TO BE DETECTED BY ERC. (0 Warnings; 0 Errors).Raises doubts about reliability of simulation results. If I go ahead and fabricate a PCB, the device will get destroyed immediately on power up. The simulator must check for correctness of user connections.

  • Jayant,

It's not really the simulator's job to check if your circuit will work - that's the task of the engineer. Simulation is good for helping the engineer determine if the circuit works as expected. The ERC in a simulator can only verify that the circuit is configured correctly for simulation. While I agree it would be great to have the tool catch your mistakes, it's really outside the scope of what most simulators do.
