Hi team,

my customer now needs a PFC&LLC for around 200W monitor (110 to 24V or 19V)

1. is there any spec I need to check with customer to ensure that PMP40580 is the best choice ?

2. why choose UCC256404 for UCC28056? I mean why can't choose other LLC solution?

Hi Fred,

PMP22087 is another design closed to your need.

You can choose whatever PFC & LLC controllers that allows your design to meet your target specifications.

UCC25640x and UCC28056 both have burst mode therefore light load power consumption is low. Also, UCC25640x provides hybrid hystersis control for better transient response with less output capacitance needed.

1.what's the difference between PMP40580 and PMP22087? is 22087 for higher power walt?

2.why there's no need for auxiliary power (flyback) or on/off control in PMP40580?

is it because UCC256404 can support its own power?

PMP40580 is designed for low profile TV while PMP22087 is not. And yes, PMP22087 can handle higher output power.

UCC256404 has high voltage startup. Meaning when the input voltage is available, UCC256404 will start to generate bias supply for PFC controller and itself. Therefore no bias flyback is needed.

BTW, customers are very interested in PMP22087, are willing to use on more than one project.
