PSPICE-FOR-TI: Software crashes after creating a new simulation profile

Part Number: PSPICE-FOR-TI

Hello TI-Team,

I recently installed the software and started with the "Walkthrough" tutorial available in the PSpice website. After completing the circuit, I proceeded to "create a new simulation profile", after that the software crashes. I already changed the name of the Caputre.ini and PSpice.ini as suggested in other threads but non of these work for me. Are there any other workarounds/solutions to this?

Thanks,

Luis

  • Hi Luis,

What operating system are you using? Where are you saving the project?

    Thank you,

    Jackie

  • Hi Jackie,

I'm using W10 Enterprise and saving the project in MyDocuments.

    Regards,

    Luis

  • Hi Luis,

I will open a case with the developer, Cadence, to see if they can help resolve the issue.

    Thank you,

    Jackie

  • Hi Luis,

Cadence has recommended the following steps:

    1. Close Capture, PSpice and other Cadence tools which are running.

    2. Open Task Manager and make sure that none of the below processes are running. If they are running, end them manually.

    a. MrKSrvr.exe

    b. PSpiceExplorerSrvr.exe

    c. Simmgr.exe

    d. SimSrvr.exe

    e. Pspice.exe

    f. Capture.exe

    3. Now restart the machine and rename pspice.ini(%CDS_HOME%\cdssetup\OrCAD_PSpiceTIPSpice_Install\17.4.0\pspice.ini) to psipce_old.txt and capture.ini(%CDS_HOME%\cdssetup\OrCAD_CaptureTIPSpice_Install\17.4.0\capture.ini) to capture_old.txt.

    4. Now, in start menu type regedit and click on registry editor to open it. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Orcad\ and delete the CaptureTIPSpice_Install folder.

NOTE: editing registry should be done with caution. It recommended to keep a backup of registry before editing it.

    5. Start PSpice-for-TI in admin mode and Run the following command in the Command Window (if command window is not shown at the bottom, enable it from View > Command Window).
    DboTclHelper_ReRegisterOrCADPlugins

    6. Now restart PSpice-for-TI and create new pspice project and try creating a simulation profile and run the simulation.

If problem still persists, share the crash logs. In event of crash, crashdump files are created in TEMP location. It is stored inside folder names like Capture364016187. Archive this folder and share it with us. See more info here

    Thank you,

    Jackie

  • Hi Luis,

Do you have any update on this item?

    Thank you,

    Jackie

  • Hi Jackie,

Thank you very much for the Info. I tried the recommended steps but it still crashes when creating the profile simulation. Where can I share my crash, crashdump files?

    Thanks,

    Luis
