TIDA-010216: TIDA-010216: MSP430FR2155 firmware

We are developing a BMS using TIDA-010216 as a reference, we have downloaded the design files, created our own design, sent the PCBs to be manufactured and now we are developing the firmware.

The hardware files were helpful but we weren't able to locate the source code for that example. Where can we download the firmware for the MSP430FR2155 used in the TIDA-010216 reference design?

    Hello Pablo, 

    We do not have any software released for the reference designs. I apologize for this.

    However we do have example code to use directly with the IC in the device's product page under software development:

    https://www.ti.com/product/BQ76952#software-development

    You can use this to begin creating your own firmware.

    Thanks for the quick response.

    I have already downloaded the examples you mention and they are extremely rudimentary. I find it curious, and concerning, to know that there is no firmware for the TIDA-010216 reference design. Without firmware, how did Texas Instruments test that the reference design works properly? 

    If Texas Instruments does not want to release the firmware for confidentiality concerns, I am willing to sign a mutual or one-way NDA (actually, I think we already signed a one-way NDA with TI, need to check it).

    Hello Pablo,

    Some code was developed by the team who designed the reference designs, however this was not developed for public release it was only for internal use. We do not provide the code for this reference design, unfortunately. You will need to develop your own code for this design, which you can use the codes mentioned for reference. 

    If you have any questions about the schematic or how something is supposed to work, let us know and we can support further.

    Hello Luis,

    Any chance we could have access to the reference design code? We will be happy to help with documentation, improvement, or porting to another TI MCU.

    If the code is available, it would help accelerate the time-to-market of custom solutions based on Texas Instruments products, this is something that all companies focus on when evaluating components for our projects.

    Hi Pablo, 

    Our code is just for preliminary testing based on the sample code Luis shared. We just use the code to configure several registers and read battery information from BQ76952, it is not a system level code and we are not ready to release it out of TI. TIDA-010216 reserve some detection circuits but not entirely used in our code. If you have any problems with the sample code or TIDA-010216 hardware, I think we can support you for sure.
