TIDA-01160: What is a 2 secondary windings alternative for the 750343468Rev02 ?

Part Number: TIDA-01160
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC21520

Hello all,

I want to use the gate driver power supply used in the TIDA-01160 to power the output of a dual-channel gate driver 'UCC21520' and not a single-channel gate driver like in the reference design.

And in the schematic, the transformer has 2 secondary windings (image below) but when I contacted Wurth Elektronik for the datasheet it turns out it has only one secondary winding.

My questions are:

Is there a similar part number to the 750343468Rev02 with similar characteristics that have 2 similar secondaries I can use in my design?

Or can I use a +15/-8 DC-DC converter module? because it would make the solution cheaper and more compact!

Can the LM25017MRX/Power supply handle a dual-channel gate driver, meaning driving 2 MOSFETs? If not what changes i could make to the power supply to make it work?

Thank you,

  • Hi Younes,

You would need to contact Wurth or another transformer supplier of your choice to have a new transformer created. This is should be fairly easy for them to accommodate.  To add a second +15V/-8V output, you can simply add another secondary winding to the transformer and duplicate the secondary circuitry.

If you can find a suitable module, that would be easier, but likely would cost more.  If you need two modules vs. one TIDA-01160 (modified with dual secondary windings), seems like the TIDA-01160 approach will like be smaller.

    regards,
