TIDA-010208: TIDA-010208

Part Number: TIDA-010208
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76952, BQ769142, BQ76942,

Hi,

Q1) What is the role of the shunt resistor (0Ohm, R35, R46..R70) around the BQ76952 ?

Q2)  With this design, how can I measure and read the SOH value of the cell's pack ? (with micro-controller)?

Q3) Can I replace the BQ76952 with BQ76942 or the BQ769142 in the same PCB?  (same in picture below(replace BQ76952 with BQ769142) 16s=>14s : replace the cap with shunt resistor...)

The pictures below shows what was mentioned in my questions

I hope I get an answer and thank you for your time.

Thanks,

AHMED.

  • Hi Ahmed,

Thanks for the interest to TIDA-010208. I can cover some of your questions as below:

    2) I assume SOH means state of health, then yes, MCU need to calculate the pack level SOH information. BQ76952 is able to report SOH data.

Other other questions will be answered very soon by our engineers. Thanks for the patience.

  • Hi Ryan Tan

    Thank you for answering.

is there an algorithm that can calculate the state of health SOH and the State of charge SOC ? If there's an example I'll greatful

I'll be waiting for further information /answers from the support engineer team.

    Ahmed.

  • Hi Ahmed,

Thanks for your questions about TIDA010208, I will answer the rest of the questions.

    (1) The TIDA010208 is designed to be compatible with battery packs with different string number. there is no 0ohm resistance in normal use.  if the number of battery strings in your application is small, the unused channels should be short-circuited.

    (3) you can replace BQ76952 with BQ76942 or BQ9142 in the same PCB, the connection in your picture is correct. we generally recommend that cell1 cell2 and cell16 must be connected. other unused ones can be short-circuited.

about how to connect unused pin, you can see the datasheet of BQ76952 :10.1.2 Usage of VC Pins for Cells Versus Interconnect.
