TIDA-010208: Configuration BQ76952, BQ76942, BQ769142

Part Number: TIDA-010208
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76952, BQ769142, BQ76942, BQSTUDIO

Hi,

- How can I configure the following AFE (BQ76952, BQ76942, BQ769142) ?

-how can I add a connector in the same PCB (for the BMS) to configure one of the previous AFE ?

And if there's a schematic  example I'll be grateful !

Best regards,

Ahmed.

  • Can you be more specific on the questions? BQ76952, BQ76942, BQ769142 are different devices, you can configure the registers with I2C or SPI.

  • Hi Ryan Tan,

I meant how to configurate  the AFE (BQ76952 for example) using BQ studio, to eventualy connect the PC with the BMS?

Is it correcte to add a connector ( SCL_AFE, SDA_AFE, and GND) in the BMS  to interface between the controller MSP430 and the AFE (BQ76952,...) with I2C ?

    -Another question:

BAT- connected to GND  and Cell 0 ( the negative Battery terminal  = Cell 0 ), not connected to GND directly

i wanted to verify if the current (delivered by the battery) pass  by the two Diode D9 and D10?

    Best Regards,

    Ahmed.

  • Hi ahmed

( 1) if you have a EVM based on BQ76952,  you can configure the BQ76952 by usb to connect BQstudio with EVM.  (EVM has integrated an MCU, which connects the data from IIC and communication to BQstudio through USB). please see the  Easy Configuration of BQ76942/52 Battery Monitors (Rev. A) for detail

    (2) usually, MCU has an IIC interface, which allows you to directly communicate with the BQ76952. in addition, MCU will communicate with BQstudio by uart.

    (3) D9 is used to clamp the GND and VC0 at the moment of short circuit, which may raise the GND, therefore, VC0 will have a negative voltage, and VC0 has limited ability to withstand negative voltage. therefore, this diode will clamp the VC0 and GND to protect AFE.    in normal, there is no current float this diode.  D10 is used to prevent accidental exceeding of the max spec of VC0 pin.

  • Thanks Yebohr Zhao, Ryan tan

    This resolved my issue

    Best regards,

    Ahmed.
