ULC1001-DRV290XEVM: Non-circular lens for ultrasonic lens cleaning system

Part Number: ULC1001-DRV290XEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ULC1001

Hello,

I have received the ULC1001-DRV290XEVM along with the sample lens.  In addition, I have reviewed the recommended TI lens design documents (SLAA975A and SLAA962).   Both of these documents clearly illustrate the design requirements for a round lens.  However, for our design, a rectangular lens would be more space efficient.   I don't know if it would be possible to set up resonant cleaning waves on a non-circular lens without having it fracture.

Does TI have any experience or design resources to help with design of ultrasonic cleaning of non-circular lenses that work with your ULC1001 ICs ?  Are there specific warnings against trying a non-circular lens? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Best regards

Rick

  • Hi Rick,

    Thanks for reaching out here.

We did receive a few requests from customers on rectangle windows. Currently we do not have existing design guideline on it unfortunately, but it is in our radar. We are making plans and prioritize different size/shapes.

Do you have finite element analysis (FEA) simulation tools such as COMSOL? It will help you understand how your system vibrate. If you could get a mechanical designer who has FEA simulation experience, we can help you build the model and you can design your own ULC mechanical parts!

    Thanks

  • Hello Hailong,

Thank you for your reply.  What amplitude of glass vibration should we be aiming for good water and dirt removal during resonance?  We can have an FEA simulation created, but we won't know if it will be sufficient with a bit of guidance on what we should be aiming for.  Are you able to provide this?

    Best regards

    Rick

  • Rick,

Please target a 3x10^6 m/s2 acceleration level at lens center vibration. Let me know if you have any questions along your way build the simulation model.

    Thanks

    Hailong
