I have a question regarding TI PD charging solution and finding a proper Fuel gauge for that.
I have found TIDA-050047 a solution to my need as I intend to use a 4-cell battery with a 37W power capacity.
Regarding the fuel gauge, I am thinking of using BQ34Z100.

Will it be compatible with my application since I need a a fuel gauge with customizable setting for charging and discharging stages and the choice of PD controller and battery charger since I don't want to use any MCU and expect this combination to work as a standalone?

Is there any integrated solution containing all requirements (PD controller + battery fast charger + fuel gauge) in TI product list?

Hi Mostafa,

TPS25750 only has the capability to configure BQ257xx (BQ25713, BQ25731, and BQ25790/2). For additional IC such as fuel gauge, an external controller is required to control it; however with PD+BQ combination it will automatically charge and discharge without the need for a fuel gauge.

I'll forward this thread to the fuel gauge team for additional inputs.

Hello Mostafa,

HAve you looked at the bq40z50 for gauge? You can use the LED to display SOC and it offers a lot of other good features

BQ40z50 seems to be able to satisfy my needs. I wonder if it can work as a standalone or not. what makes it different from BQ34z100 apart from the cell balancing it has?

bq40z50 integrated Analog Front End(AFE) with a gauge so that a single chip could handle FETs control and gas gauging, bq34z100 is only a gauge w/o AFE to control the FETs.

bq40z050 also implemented the most up to date IT algorithms
