PSPICE-FOR-TI: "Error (403) Forbidden" during install

Part Number: PSPICE-FOR-TI

Hi Team,

I have a customer that is trying to install PSPICE for TI, but is getting the following error message when the installer is downloading files:

Based on previous issues with installation of other GUI programs, I assumed the issue is likely related to a firewall blocking some access that is required during installation.

I found this other thread that calls out specific sites and ports that need to be allowed:  https://e2e.ti.com/support/tools/simulation-hardware-system-design-tools-group/sim-hw-system-design/f/simulation-hardware-system-design-tools-forum/969705/faq-pspice-for-ti-i-cannot-install-pspice-for-ti-the-error-message-says-the-required-files-cannot-be-read-from-the-server

Specifically, the following:

However, when trying to access these sites, the customer sees the that "downloads.ti.com" is unable to be reached.   "software-dl.ti.com" just shows a blank screen.   "https://cdsplicwc.cadence.com/chws/test/connection.html" and "https://software-dl.ti.com/pspice/esd/models/library/Pspice_Lib_Version.txt" show a success connection.

Is this expected, or is it possible that the 'downloads.ti.com' server is having issues at the moment?   Is the other thread I mentioned above still accurate regarding the access that needs to be allowed by the firewall?
Any other suggestions here?

Thanks,

Ben

  • Hi Ben,

Let me look into it and thank you for doing the homework to rule out the top level issues that might've come up.

  • Hi Ben,

This seems to still be an issue with the customer's IT control.

    Here's what I found for Error (403):

This error occurs when you do not have permissions
(due to system policies or proxy settings
) to access the required URLs for downloading the
    necessary files for installation.
You need to work with your IT admin to allow traffic to the following two servers on port 443:
    1) cdsplicwc.cadence.com
    2) software-dl.ti.com
Once the traffic is allowed to these ports, try installing the tool again

  • Hi Ben,

Was your IT able to resolve this problem?

    David

  • Hi David,

The customer is still having issues.   There is an email thread I can loop you into if that would help - please let me know.

Customer also added the following two additional ports per suggestion from the product line:

    • localhost:20123
    • localhost:20124

However, the customer responded "After adding the two additional ports, the behavior was a bit different.  Previously, I had trouble logging in when the program started up, and had to try a few times before it logged me in.

But today it logged me in perfectly on the first try!  That gave me much hope… But then when I tried to install the PCM6xx0 EVM app, I had the exact same issue as before…

So we’re still very confused to how we can move forward.

Do you have any other suggestions of what else we can open on the network?  Or is there some sort of way to manually install the EVM app?"

    Best,

    Ben

  • Hi Ben,

Please loop me into the email thread in case that provides additional clues or context.

  • Sorry about the delay. I was doing a Snip on Altium, and those 2 programs don't play well together. My comment somehow never got posted as a result.

  • Hi David,

My mistake, I got this e2e post mixed up with a similar issue related to the PurePath Console 3 GUI.   This is closed out and working now.

    Best,

    Ben
