Hello,

I'm simulating the following OPA858 and TLV3603 in series as follows:

Simulation time take very long because of pseudotransient Convergence as follows:

and eventually the simulation crashes.

each individual component simulation works good without any issues.

Please advise what I need to configure so this simulation will work?

Hello JC

I ran this simulation in PSpice for TI and a commercial.

in PSpice for TI the simulation failed, in commercial it took very very long time (around an hour) but was completed eventually.

Hi Michael,

Somehow it (SCHEMATIC1-TD) did not run for me in PSpice for TI. SPB is running and it is slow. Not sure what's the cause yet.

Hi Michael,

Your stage 1 has balanced supply, the output is near zero volt. Your stage 2 has a single supply, is this intentional?

Thanks. I separated them and the first stage runs fine on its own. I am not sure if the comparator is capable of dealing with input close to ground. I'm bringing in the team more familiar with that.

I know you said each individual component runs fine, but I do have difficulty with the comparator alone:

Hi Michael,

For our models, when the input range is violated, we have the output go to mid supply as an error condition. Looks like the input is going negative which violates the input range.

In terms of long simulation time and convergence issues, checking the SKIPBP option and selecting Autoconverge in the simulation profile can help. Some of the values such as ITL4 might need to be tuned with also to lower sim time. I've also found putting a small series resistor with the voltage sources to ground also help with convergence.
