TIDA-010210: Clarify the inductors

Part Number: TIDA-010210

Dear Champs,

I am asking this for our customer.

The inductors for inverter are 480 uH in the schematic below, but it has a comment "Inductor to be changed with 750343810", which is 340uH.

www.ti.com/.../tidm837

Questions:

1. Would you please confirm if it's 480 uH or 340 uH?

2. If it's 340 uH, why is it?

Wayne

  • HI Wayne,

I can confirm you that in order to run TIDA-010210 you will need to use the 340 uH.

The current capability of this inductor is higher thus allowing to push fully 11 kW.

    Thanks

    Best Regards

  • Dear Riccardo,

I have some questions about PFC efficiency measurement.

    Question 1 :

On page 18 of the design guide, there are measurement results for bus voltages of 600V & 800V respectively. Do both dc bus voltages measured results use the same input phase voltage (230Vrms)?

According to my understanding, if this topology uses 230Vrms input, the minimum dc bus voltage should be higher than 230*2*1.414=650V, otherwise there will be overmodulation, is this correct?

    Question 2 :

May I ask if you have experimented with four-wire input, that is, R, S, T&N? Can it also have good performance?

  • Dear Ku,

I have run the space vector modulation in order to run the test at 600 V.

The minimum required voltage when you run the space vector modulation is 230*sqrt(3)*sqrt(2)= 562 V

I have run always the system without neutral connection, otherwise I could not apply the space vector modulation. In general, if you push three phase current equal in amplitude and shifted 120 degree you should not have neutral current. This is why neutral connection is not mandatory.

    Thanks

  • Dear Riccardo,

I didn't found the space vector modulation in the source code.

Will the code of space vector modulation control  be available on SDK? Or could you provide me with this control version?

And I read in another article(https://e2e.ti.com/.../tida-010210-software-release-for-tida-010210), will the code using CLA be released?

About the neutral connection, If the system needs to be compatible with three-wire and four-wire input (with and without neutral), what should be paid attention to in the control and circuit?

  • Dear Ku,

the existing code in SDK is withouth space vector modulation and for the moment as far as I know we do not plan to release it.

On the other hand, I have released a new code for TIDA 01606 which is using the space vector modulation. You can use the function  from there.

    CLA is still not used..

You will need to take care about the EMI filtering, if neutral is connected to the middle point you will not be able to do space vector modulation. Furthermore, there could be issues of third harmonic currents pushed into the three phases and closing back in the neutral.

    Thanks

    Best Regards
